So now that I know I am having a boy I thought I would redo Chase's room since all the nursery stuff will be moving with the crib. I debated for a week or so on what I wanted to do and then when I found this steal on a bed at down east the whole process started. Because the Iron Man was last weekend there were lots of sales going on in town. (for those of you who don't know the Iron Man is a triathlon on major steroids). Anyway, I found this pottery barn bed for Chase for $50. (side note: I also found a 5x8 ft. rug for the babies room from the Land of Nod for $10....I was super excited). So I keep getting side tracked. Once I got the bed I decided I wanted to paint it. My awesome neighbor and friend took on the challenge before she realized how much time it would take us. Especially since I threw in two large bookcases. It took me about a week to finish it all. I did his room in vintage cars and it still has a lot work, but this is what I have accomplished so far.
My friend showed me a blog that just redid her little boys room in airplanes that is adorable. Check it out it is www.thriftydecorchic.com And my friends website where she posts lots of cool projects for CHEAP you can link to here or she is on my sidebar.

Thrifty Decor Chic has the pictures on the wall look like they are framed in a white matte. This is just the wall painted white with a small molding around it. They are cool looking and I hope to do this as soon as we get to the painting stage of the room. The photos I have in frames so far are all of Ashton's dad's cars. The Gold one is his first car and the mercedes was his baby until about a year or two ago when he sold it. The little red truck he got for $150!!! I thought I was getting a deal with my $50 bed. Needless to say, Chase loves his new room. He gets into bed and gets so excited to sleep in the car bed (all that is cars is his sheets). He makes me cover him all the way up and it is like 80 degrees in our house because I keep fighting the urge to turn on the A/C. He loves it and I hope that it only gets cuter with time and collecting of more stuff for the room. We are headed to Grandma and Grandpa's this weekend (my mom and dad). I am in hopes to find some cool pics of my dad's first cars.
This is the before photo....
Here is the after...

These bookshelves actually are part of an entertainment center we bought when we first got married. Since that time they have served many different purposes and now they have been taken apart and repainted. We had to re-enforce the backs which ended up making them a little crooked, but hey we have gotten a lot of miles out of these things. They were the same color as the bed before it was painted. The toy box in the middle was Ashton's when he was a boy. His grandpa made it for him and it says Ashton across the front. I am hoping to put a padded seat on the top of it to give it a little color without having to paint it. I just have to find some cute fabric!!!

Here is a close up of what I have on the shelves. I haven't quite decided where to put them all and still have a project left. I need to find an old dresser and I want to paint it gray and put a glaze over it. Hopefully it will work out, but for now I am resting because this project wore me out!!!

My other project was a car seat cover. I finally got the car seat I have always wanted and I found it on sale so again I was excited. It has the anti-rebound bar on the base which is the part about the infant seats I have always hated. You put them in the base which is strapped into the car and then it wiggles all over the place. This one is pretty sturdy. Back to my project. I got my car seat in the mail and I am glad I waited for it to come to make this cover. It's only downfall is that it is a little larger than the other brands, but still well worth it. I have loved the roundabout Britax car seat that I own and I am hoping this one wont disappoint me. I was proud of my self for the cover I made because I had no idea what I was doing. I talked to a couple of girls in my ward and they told me the things they liked and disliked about theirs and I tried to put it all together in one. We'll see how the little one likes it when he makes his appearance!!!
